We get a lot of emails asking us if we sell the acrylic frames by themselves. We special order our cases in large numbers and some cases we receive can't meet our strict quality control standards but are still usable. Our cases are heated and bent on 2 sides so that they curve down to meet the base, it's a very stylish look but it's difficult to make cases this way. As a result, most of the empty cases for sale here have minor problems and are ideal for a butterfly hobbyist that wants to frame some of their butterflies themselves.
These minor problems do not affect the sealability of the cases and usually consist of imperfections in the bent side of the case, such as a minor dent or a pin-sized bubble. For the most part these imperfections will virtually disappear when the case is hung on the wall. Other problems such as minor scratches and glue spots are very common and can be removed. Each case will include a hanger that can be glued to the back so that the case can be hung. Case sizes aren't exact but are very close to the listed dimensions.
Note: Sealing butterflies or insects in acrylic is a lot harder than you might imagine and you'll need a few tools to do it properly and there are many things that can go wrong. Unfortunately we can't share any of our hard earned trade secrets so if you buy these cases you're on your own.
Actual UPS Ground shipping fees apply, the cart will charge a minimum $7.50 charge, unless you order a lot of cases it should only be a couple of bucks more than that and we will charge your card the difference upon shipment.
