We display the upperside of this giant Owl butterfly because of its purple and orange coloring. The underside is "owl" like with narrower eyespots than the Caligo idomeneus. Because this butterfly is iridescent we had a very hard time capturing it's true color, it photographs blue so we photoshopped it a bit to make it look as close to it does in real life in possible. In person it's a slightly bluish purple, it's not extremely bright but rather rich and deep colored. Beautiful in nice lighting. Origin: Central, South America.
